BIO - LYNN MARIE HURTADO

As a young girl I enjoyed telling stories to anyone who would listen to me. Then one day, at a Vacation Bible School I heard a story that I never forgot.  The story was about a bearded man named Jesus. After that hot summer morning in Orlando Florida, my life was never the same. The testimonies in Skunk Tales are a result of the seeds that were planted in my heart as a child. Never did I dream that one day I would write my own stories.
 
When I became a single mother in 1986, my desire to have a relationship with God blossomed. As my devotion in this pursuit grew, a fire was ignited in my heart to read the Bible. Searching the Scriptures for wisdom and guidance, I read about the faithfulness of the Lord on every page. It was then I began to realize just how much God loved me. Being childlike myself, I wanted everything that my Heavenly Father wanted for me.
 
A new faith was born in me that was greater than anything I had ever imagined.  I read about generational blessings and the promises of God for His children. This gave me the hope and assurance that whatever the future held for my family, I could trust the Lord. God placed in my heart a vision that my family would be a New Lineage of faith.  This passion to impart Biblical truths to future generations is what has compelled me to persevere in my darkest times.

My commitment and enthusiasm to serve the Lord led me to be involved in missions. Homeschooling allowed my son and me the grace and privilege of serving with various community ministries as well as overseas organizations. This experience has given me the longing to encourage other parents to invest in their children's future, spiritual lives, and education.
 
I am so very grateful to the Lord for the many Godly people that He has brought into my life and the Christian heritage I now have. Being a single parent has taught me full reliance on an ever-faithful God. It is my prayer and desire to share with others the abundant hope and love that is found in Jesus Christ.

My goal in life is to say yes to whatever God has for me. Currently, I am a curriculum developer and an ESL instructor for Asian English students of all ages. With great joy and excitement I have the honor of sharing God's Word with students, young adults and parents. Working internationally provides opportunities to share my faith and encourage other single parents and families.
